President's Letter
By: Kurt Leisure

Dear NRRDA Members - It is with the utmost respect and appreciation that I thank Brian Chance for the mentorship which he extended to me way beyond his defined roll of President of NRRDA.  Thank you, Brian, for all that you have done to set me up for success – I do however have the right to re-engage with you if things go off track. I am honored and very excited to lead NRRDA into the next two years of excellence.
As I write this, I’m encouraged, but guarded, with respect to Covid trends.  The “new normal” that everyone speaks of is yet to be defined, but this also means that we can define it and continue to polish the stone moving forward.  With respect to NRRDA, the amazing board that is guiding our future is focused on carefully growing our highly respected membership, taking NRRDA to the “next level” and is mindful of excellence in everything we do: engaging with our membership through Lighthouse, Peer Calls, committee collaboration, and executing a high-quality annual conference.

If you attended our annual conference in March in San Antonio, you experienced our best conference yet.  The sessions and speakers were carefully selected to bring topical and timely content to our attendees; a challenge in this ever-changing environment.  The post conference survey provided feedback for the conference committee to use as we continue to enhance our annual conference experience.  Our sessions were well attended, the networking was fantastic, and our function at the Tower of the Americas contributed to the most memorable conference of the year.  If you golfed at The Quarry, you played on a unique and challenging course and experienced our highest attended golf outing yet.  Thank you to all of our committees for supporting the conference and events in San Antonio, this set the bar for all future conferences to come.

As we look toward the remaining portion of 2022, rest assured that we are already working on our next annual conference which is scheduled for March 1-3, 2023 in Charleston, North Carolina.  Our next in person event will be our Lighthouse Seminar which is scheduled for November 7-8, 2022, in Westlake Village, California.  We will, of course, continue with our peer calls and other virtual ways to engage with our membership.  More information to follow regarding the legal library that we are building on to our website.  There is no greater time to be a member of NRRDA with the value that we continue to provide to our industry, attorney and business support partners.

Thank you for trusting me to lead NRRDA for the next two years along with our exceptional board of directors.  There are many ways for you to engage with NRRDA and I highly recommend that you consider joining one of our many committees.  We want to hear from you, engage with you, and deliver the best experience possible to our membership.
